Business and Inclusive Development
The ninth Max Havelaar Lecture will be a full day event; giving room to expert workshops, key note speakers, panels and pitches. In the morning there will be workshops on frugal innovation and living wage. In the afternoon three renowned key note speakers will inform us about business and inclusive development. Young entrepreneurs will pitch their view on inclusive business and will have a chance to win the KPN SDG challenge.

Programme
Morning: 10-13h
Workshop Frugal Innovation: 3-4 case studies on frugal innovation will be presented by Siri Lijfering, Dr. Addisu Lashitew and Cees Peter van den Brink. These case studies will be discussed by experts on frugal innovation and related topics.
Workshop Living Wage and Human Rights: Prof. Dr Cees van Dam will present the work of his chair in business and human rights by giving a workshop on ‘the right to a living wage in the company’s human rights policy’.
Workshop Living Wage and Certification: Wilbert Flinterman (Max Havelaar/FairTrade International) will present the journey towards a living wage within Fair Trade International and talk about benchmarking.
13-14h: Lunch and market place for young ‘inclusive’ entrepreneurs: Theil-Hall
During lunch, young entrepreneurs can present their inclusive business ideas in a marketplace. Together with the pitches presented during the afternoon lecture, these ideas will be evaluated by the audience, and the the most appealing pitch will receive a monetary award donated by KPN. (invitation for this challenge will follow)
This market will also be open for promo stands of other organizations that are fair, sustainable or in another way related to the theme of the Max Havelaar Lecture. Interested organizations can contact Rianne (see contact details below)
14-17h: Max Havelaar Lecture
With contributions of Prof Dr Ted London (University of Michigan), Irene Visser (NABC), Prof Dr Rob van Tulder, Peter D’angremond, the workshop hosts and young entrepreneurs working on inclusiveness. More contributions will be announced later.
