On Saturday 8th of February 2014, the student organization SIB Utrecht is organizing a congress, A Struggle for Peace, on democracy, world economy and develoment. Important current socio-cultural issues will be discussed during the lectures and debates, including how we can live together in a constructive way and how stability, tranquility and equality can be realized. Democracy, world economy and development will serve as the three pillars of the congress. Check here for more information about the themes.

A number of Worldconnectors will be contributing to the congress. Worldconnectors co-chair Alexander Rinnooy Kan will deliver the opening speech; Paul Hoebink will take part in a debate about development cooperation; and Ruud Lubbers will give a masterclass on the Earth Charter. Jan Pronk and Joris Voorhoeve will also make a contribution (more information about the programme will be made available soon on the congress website). Check here the full list of the speakers.
