On 3 March the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) – the federation of environmental NGOs in Europe – is organizing a Conference on Environmental Justice. This meeting culminates the 4-year EJOLT programme, which brought together 23 organizations around the world to work on environmental justice.

Worldconnector and human rights lawyer Jan van de Venis is chairing a session on violations of environmental activists’ rights. As conflicts around land and resources are heating up globally, those standing up for our environment are increasingly under threat of persecution and criminalization. The panel will survey the current context in Europe and in Latin America and share the personal testimonies of activists whose lives are at risk.

The EEB Conference will take place in Brussels from 9am to 5pm. Unfortunately the event has sold out, but keep an eye on the EEB website for publications on the conference and for upcoming events.
