October 16th marks World Food Day, an initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (UN) with the goal of bringing more attention to the issues around food (security) worldwide. The Youth Commission of the World Food Day is working together with various parties, including the Dutch ministries of Foreign and Economic Affairs, in order to make this possible.

On this day, a big event will take place on the central square in The Hague (Plein), including a debate between representatives from the private sector, youth, politicians and theme experts. The results will consequently be presented to the Dutch Minister of Trade and International Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen, and the Dutch State Secretary of Economic Affairs, Sharon Dijksma, both of whom will also take part in the discussion.
