Cris Boonen works as strategy advisor at the Central Strategy Unit of the Ministry of Security and Justice.

Professional background
Cris worked as public policy advisor in the social sector. She brought together people from different organisations in order to develop new policies on issues related to asylum, integration and poverty. Earlier, Cris obtained a doctorate degree in international relations, having studied diplomacy in territorial disputes at the Faculty of Political Science at Leiden University and she worked voluntarily as legal counsel at Vluchtelingenwerk. Cris obtained a Master’s degree in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences at University College Roosevelt. She also worked as a research assistent and project assistent at organisations such as University of Oxford, the European Parlement and UNPO.
