Dick Koelega is a philosopher and senior strategy advisor to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. There he supports the designing of policies that hopefully, through the broad field of the Ministry, can contribute effectively to a sustainable and good life for humans, animals and nature.

Professional background
Dick studied religious studies at Leiden University and completed his PhD in political philosophy at the Free University of Amsterdam. He was a youth member of the Club of Rome and was later involved as organizer and moderator in a large number of multidisciplinary studies and societal debates in the field of sustainability (people, planet, profit). He was also a member of the national Commission on Biotechnology in Animals and the Animal Experiments Committee of the Dutch Cancer Institute. Since 2002, Dick worked at the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and is currently working at Economic Affairs.
