Emmilia Dowlatshahi

Emmilia Dowlatshahi is a dermatologist at the Groene Hart Hospital in Gouda. Her areas of specialty are the treatment of psoriasis and inflammatory skin diseases, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic dermatology.

She is British-Canadian, of Persian origin, and has lived in England, Canada, Germany and presently in the Netherlands and speaks 5 languages fluently.

As a member of the Bahá’í International Community, she has been involved in community building work and tutored children and youth in Global Principles of Harmony of Science and Religion, Oneness of Mankind, and Equality of Men and Women.

Professional background

Emmilia received her schooling in English and French and obtained a French baccalaureate at the Lycée Français in Hamburg. She studied medicine at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg and subsequently practiced medicine at the Zaans Medisch Centrum in Zaandam. Emmilia then conducted research in epidemiology leading to a PhD on the comorbidities of psoriasis at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, which she successfully defended in 2014. Emmilia completed her dermatology residency at the Erasmus Medical Centre Rotterdam in May 2017.
